CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: India’s star badminton player PV Sindhu’s campaign at the Arctic Open Super 500 tournament ended in the quarter-finals. In the match played on Friday, sixth seed Sindhu was beaten by top seed Ratchanok Intanon in three games, 21-11, 19-21, 21-18. The contest lasted one hour and two minutes.
Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medallist, made a strong comeback in the second game after losing the first, taking the match into a decider. However, Intanon won key points in the third game to seal the victory. With this win, Intanon’s head-to-head record against Sindhu improved to 10-4.
India’s men’s doubles pair of Krishna Prasad Garaga and Pruthvi Krishnamurthy Roy also lost in the quarter-finals. Denmark’s Christian Faust Kjaer and Rasmus Kjaer defeated the Indian pair 21-13, 21-14. With this defeat, India’s challenge at the Arctic Open came to an end.
