CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, a public awareness dialogue session focused on de-addiction was organized on Friday under the joint aegis of HACL (Hindustan Academy of Creative Learning), Aurous Academy, and Law Prep Tutorial. The event was held at the respective campuses of Aurous Academy and Law Prep Tutorial in Bhopal, where youth and students were informed about the harmful effects of tobacco.
The chief guest, Bhopal MP Alok Sharma, inspired the students by saying, “Today’s generation is the future of the nation. If we stay away from evils like tobacco, nothing can stop India from becoming a developed nation.” He also administered a collective oath to all the students present: “We will neither consume intoxicants nor allow others to do so.” Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India, he urged the youth to give up tobacco.
Special guest Megha Parmar, renowned mountaineer, said, “The day you conquer yourself, no Everest seems too big.” She shared her experience of conquering Mount Everest and encouraged students to stay away from tobacco.
HACL’s Operational Head, Utsav Srivastava, spoke in detail about life-threatening diseases like cancer, heart disease, and mental debility caused by substance abuse. He said, “Even after a doctor’s warning, some people do not quit tobacco – this is a path to self-destruction.”
Health experts and senior doctors interacted with students during the session, discussing behavioral aspects of addiction and practical ways to overcome it.
At the end of the session, a quiz competition based on tobacco awareness was organized. Winners were honored with awards. All participants present took a pledge to work towards building a drug-free society.
