CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Naval Wing of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) at Rabindranath Tagore University proudly launched its impactful environmental awareness campaign, “Operation Green 2.0.”

This initiative builds on the success of last year’s original “Operation Green” program and reinforces RNTU NCC’s unwavering commitment to ecological conservation and public environmental education.

The main objective of “Operation Green 2.0” was to enhance public understanding and appreciation of the vital role plants and trees play in maintaining a healthy and balanced environment. To achieve this, NCC cadets conducted a widespread plant distribution campaign throughout the city of Bhopal.

Nearly 1,000 saplings of various native species—such as Neem, Jamun, Guava, Gulmohar, Amaltas, and Peepal—were thoughtfully distributed to local residents. This extensive drive took place across several key locations and busy intersections of Bhopal, with significant support from the Madhya Pradesh Police.

Further demonstrating their commitment to environmental protection and community engagement, the cadets reached out to local law enforcement. They visited police stations—particularly TT Nagar Police Station and MP Nagar Police Station—where they respectfully presented plants to police personnel. The aim was to involve various sectors of society in the vital cause of environmental preservation.

A total of 20 dedicated NCC cadets enthusiastically participated in this campaign under the guidance of NCC Officer Sub-Lieutenant Manoj Singh Manral. Their collective efforts embodied the spirit of selflessness, community service, and environmental responsibility, which are central to the core principles of the NCC.

“Operation Green 2.0” not only served as a powerful reminder of our shared responsibility toward the Earth but also highlighted the active role that youth, especially those involved in esteemed organizations like the NCC, can play in driving positive environmental change.

The RNTU NCC Naval Wing remains committed to continuing these meaningful efforts and has pledged that “the journey will go on,” reflecting ongoing dedication to environmental awareness and afforestation initiatives.
