CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Bhopal: On the occasion of the 12th International Day of Yoga, the Yoga Department under the Faculty of Medicine at Rabindranath Tagore University, Raisen, organised a grand yoga programme in line with the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India theme, "Yoga for Healthy Ageing," at Muktdhara Natya Vidyalaya on the university campus. More than 100 students, teachers and staff of the university enthusiastically participated in the collective yoga session.
The chief guest at the programme was Dr Rahul Sharma, Assistant Professor in the Department of Yoga at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hindi University, Bhopal. The programme began with the lighting of the lamp by the chief guest, the university Registrar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Dr C.P. Mishra and other guests.
Thereafter, Head of the Yoga Department Dr Ratnesh Pandey introduced the chief guest, welcomed all guests and participants, and highlighted the importance of International Day of Yoga. He said yoga is not merely a one-day event, but a continuous practice for living a healthy and disciplined life.
In his motivational address, chief guest Dr Rahul Sharma said, "Yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient knowledge tradition, which today is guiding the entire world towards healthy living. Yoga is not only a means to keep the body healthy, but a lifestyle that establishes balance between the mind, intellect and soul."
He led all participants through various yogasanas, pranayama and meditation in accordance with the Common Yoga Protocol. During the session, he explained the scientific usefulness and health benefits of each asana and said regular yoga reduces stress, increases immunity, develops mental concentration and makes a person physically and mentally stronger. He especially urged young people to make yoga an essential part of their daily routine.

Addressing the programme, the university Registrar said a healthy body and positive thinking are the greatest strengths of any nation. The Registrar gave students the message of adopting a disciplined and healthy life through yoga.
In his address, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Dr C.P. Mishra said modern medical science has also accepted the usefulness of yoga. He said regular yoga practice plays an effective role in preventing many lifestyle-related diseases and strengthens a person's overall health.
The programme was efficiently conducted by Akhilesh Vishwakarma, Assistant Professor in the Yoga Department. He ensured all activities were carried out in an organised manner.
At the end of the programme, Nikhil Modi of the Yoga Department expressed gratitude to all guests, participants and supporters and delivered the vote of thanks. The programme concluded with the national anthem.
The International Day of Yoga event proved highly inspiring and energising for participants. It further strengthened awareness about a healthy lifestyle, yoga, and respect for Indian cultural heritage.
