CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal : The two-day national seminar on “Utilizing Traditional Knowledge for Nutrition and Modern Welfare in Madhya Pradesh” concluded successfully at Rabindranath Tagore University. The event was funded and supported by the Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology and organized by the Center for Science Communication and the Faculty of Science.

The ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Saina Quraishi, Adviser, Sports Authority of India, Government of India, with Distinguished Guests Dr. Rekha Pal Shah, AIIMS, New Delhi; Surabhi Yadav, BBC; and Chef Anup Gupta, Taj Lakefront, Bhopal. The program was presided over by Vice Chancellor Ravi Prakash Dubey, and Dr. Preeti Singh, the coordinator of the event, was also present.

Saina Quraishi emphasized that a balanced diet and regular exercise are both essential for a healthy lifestyle. She urged students to make sports and fitness a part of their daily lives to become strong not only physically but also mentally.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Ravi Prakash Dubey stated that traditional knowledge is our heritage and an identity of our culture. By combining it with modern research and technology, we can take meaningful steps toward societal welfare. He highlighted the importance of conducting such seminars in the current times.

Dr. Rekha Pal Shah elaborated on the importance of superfoods, especially millets, highlighting their nutritional and health benefits and advised participants to include them in their daily diet.

Director Surabhi Yadav discussed the scientific significance of traditional medicinal plants and phytotherapy, explaining that their use is effective not only in disease prevention but also in treatment. She emphasized the need to integrate traditional medical systems with modern healthcare practices.

Director Anup Gupta, motivating the students, delivered a simple message: “Eat well, sleep well, and study hard.” He said that good nutrition, adequate sleep, and hard work are the keys to success and encouraged young people to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

Over 100 researchers from across the country presented their papers during the seminar. Winners were awarded certificates and trophies. On the second day, the second session included a welcome address by Director Padmesh Chaturvedi, OSD, Chancellor, RNTU, who inspired the attending students. The closing session was addressed by Dr. Ankit Agarwal, Dean, RNTU, who expressed gratitude to all participants.

The event was successfully conducted by Gabbar Singh, NSS Officer, and Director Bhupendra Singh, Assistant, Center for Science Communication.
