CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Delhi: New Delhi: At the INDIA bloc’s mega rally held at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on November 1, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Election Commission. He described the 2024 Lok Sabha election as illegal, alleging that it was the result of vote theft. He also said Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar should be removed from his post and face legal action.
In his address, Rahul Gandhi alleged that the electoral process was influenced through alleged manipulation of electronic voting machines (EVMs) and voter lists. He claimed that after the 2024 Lok Sabha election, the names of around 15 percent of voters were removed from the voter list. According to him, the difference in votes between the opposition alliance and the NDA was about three percent, and therefore changes in the voter list should be viewed seriously.
Rahul Gandhi said Gyanesh Kumar would be removed from the post of Chief Election Commissioner and would have to go to jail. He also targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, saying legal action would also be demanded against them in connection with the alleged electoral irregularities.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Mamata Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav and other opposition leaders attended the rally. The alliance questioned the SIR process and demanded accountability from the Election Commission.
In response to the opposition’s allegations, the BJP raised questions over the rally and its timing. Rahul Gandhi’s claims and the allegations of electoral irregularities have not been confirmed by any investigation or judicial finding.
