CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Delhi: New Delhi: The INDIA alliance’s mega rally held at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan has given Congress workers an opportunity to draw fresh energy. A large number of workers joined the march and rally led by Rahul Gandhi, along with senior party leaders. The speeches from the stage and the shared presence of opposition parties gave the Congress a chance to show its political activity in the capital. However, it is not yet clear how much this event will change the ground situation of the Delhi Congress.
In Delhi, the Congress has long faced the challenge of strengthening its organisation and regaining its lost support base. In the 2025 Assembly election, the party failed to win even a single seat for the third consecutive time. After this, issues such as organisational weakness, lack of local leadership and coordination among workers remained under discussion.
The party has also started the process of appointments and restructuring to reactivate the organisation. In April 2026, differences emerged within the party over the formation of District Congress Committees and changes in them. In May, new office-bearers and a political affairs committee were formed in the Delhi unit. These steps were described as aimed at making the organisation more active and systematic.
The rally at Ramlila Maidan displayed the Congress’s presence at the national level and opposition unity, but a large event alone does not ensure a change in electoral support. For that, regular contact at ward and booth level, active engagement on local issues, strong leadership and continued participation of workers will be necessary.
For the Delhi Congress, the real challenge now is to convert the enthusiasm of the rally into sustained organisational activity. In the coming time, the party’s local activity and its reach among the public will show whether this event can become the beginning of its revival.
