CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Delhi: New Delhi: At the INDIA bloc’s mega rally held at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on November 1, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi made a sharp statement about Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. He said Gyanesh Kumar would be removed from his post and would have to go to jail. Rahul Gandhi alleged that voters’ rights had been affected through alleged irregularities in the election process.
In his address, Rahul Gandhi raised the issue of alleged vote theft in the 2024 Lok Sabha election and Assembly elections in several states. He alleged that the electoral process was influenced through changes in electronic voting machines and voter lists. He claimed that after the Lok Sabha election, the names of a large number of voters were removed from the list and, on that basis, raised questions over the fairness of the election.
The Congress leader also targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He said that after Gyanesh Kumar, the Opposition would also demand legal action against these leaders. In his speech, Rahul Gandhi said the Opposition’s objective was not to keep enmity with any individual, but to protect the Constitution and the democratic system.
Raising issues concerning farmers, youth and workers, he also questioned unemployment, economic inequality and the impartiality of institutions. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav and other Opposition leaders were present at the rally.
Notably, the INDIA bloc had organised the rally in protest against the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process and alleged voter list irregularities. The BJP has rejected the Opposition’s allegations. Rahul Gandhi’s statements are political allegations and warnings; any conclusion on criminal guilt or legal action against any individual can be determined only through a competent investigation and judicial process.
