CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News / Agencies: The administration in Chhattisgarh’s Raigarh district has strengthened the monitoring system to streamline paddy procurement arrangements and curb illegal transport. Surveillance has begun at 20 interstate check posts in the district. Arrangements for paddy procurement will be made at 112 procurement centres. Flying squad teams have been formed in 10 tehsils of the district with the aim of preventing illegal transport of paddy.

The administration’s main objective is to control attempts to bring paddy from other states and take undue advantage of the local procurement system. For this, the movement of vehicles along interstate borders will be monitored. Through surveillance at check posts, the transport of paddy and related documents will be checked. Flying squad teams will also remain active during paddy procurement to prevent any kind of irregularity. These teams will visit the concerned tehsils and monitor illegal transport and storage activities. Action will also be taken when required.

Paddy will be procured from farmers through 112 procurement centres in the district. The purpose of these preparations by the administration is to make the procurement process transparent and ensure that genuine farmers receive its benefits.
