CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Union Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti, V. Somanna, inspected the North Central Railway Fair Camp in the Sangam area during his two-day visit to Prayagraj as part of preparations for the Maha Kumbh 2025. The Divisional Railway Manager of Prayagraj, Himanshu Badoni, and other officials were also present during the inspection.
The minister reviewed the fair camp established in the Sangam area to ensure the convenience of pilgrims visiting Maha Kumbh 2025. During the inspection, he interacted with passengers, inquired about their experiences, and gathered feedback from employees working at ticket counters and inquiry centers regarding the facilities provided.
The minister appreciated the efforts of railway employees for their excellent service and assistance during the Maha Kumbh. He also spoke to passengers waiting in line for tickets to understand their experiences with the railway facilities, which received widespread praise.
While addressing the media at the fair camp, V. Somanna highlighted that Indian Railways had been preparing for the Maha Kumbh for the past three years. During the event, over 13,000 trains, including 3,000 special and 10,000 regular trains, will be operated to serve the pilgrims. He described the Maha Kumbh as a historic event for the nation and Indian Railways, made possible under the capable leadership of the Prime Minister. He also praised the Uttar Pradesh government for its commendable efforts in organizing the event.
Earlier, the minister inspected Prayagraj Junction station, reviewing the medical observation room, medical booth, passenger shelters, and the fair tower. He interacted with pilgrims availing medical facilities and commended the multilingual leaflets in 22 languages, the color-coding system, and the technologically advanced fair tower. He also appreciated the cleanliness and security measures implemented at the station.
