CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Satish Kumar, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Railway Board, visited Gorakhpur Junction and conducted a detailed inspection of the station redevelopment project, integrated crew running room, and crew lobby. He was accompanied by North Eastern Railway General Manager Ms. Saumya Mathur, Divisional Railway Manager (Lucknow) Gaurav Agarwal, and other senior officials.

During the inspection, Mr. Kumar reviewed the facilities of the state-of-the-art crew lobby and the loco pilot running room. He praised the arrangements, emphasizing that such modern amenities are essential to enhance the efficiency of loco pilots, who are the backbone of the railways.

Mr. Kumar also reviewed the redevelopment work of Gorakhpur station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. This ₹500 crore project includes the construction of a roof plaza, modern waiting lounges, a food court, special facilities for differently-abled passengers, and environmentally friendly infrastructure. Expressing satisfaction with the quality of work, he instructed officials to ensure timely completion.

In a press conference, Mr. Kumar stated that Uttar Pradesh has received ₹19,858 crore in the railway budget, which is 18 times more than the allocation during 2009–14. He also interacted with railway employees and assured them that their demands would be prioritized.

Gorakhpur is set to receive its second Vande Bharat Express on June 20, which will be flagged off by the Prime Minister.
