CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Raipur Railway Division conducted a special ticket-checking campaign at Bhatapara railway station and on trains passing through the station on September 17. During the drive, railway teams checked all platforms and 14 trains, identifying 316 cases of rule violations.
Of the total cases, 202 passengers were found travelling without valid tickets. The railway collected ₹1,89,800 from these passengers. Another 71 passengers were found travelling with irregular or incorrect tickets, resulting in ₹50,775 in revenue.
The checking drive also identified 41 cases involving passengers carrying luggage beyond the prescribed limit. The railway collected ₹4,700 from these cases. In addition, two unauthorised vendors were caught during the inspection, with ₹4,000 collected from them.
Overall, the campaign resulted in 316 cases and generated ₹2,49,275 in revenue for the railway. More than 25 ticket-checking personnel, along with four Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel, participated in the operation.
Railway officials said such checking drives are intended to discourage ticketless and irregular travel and encourage passengers to carry valid tickets and comply with railway rules.
