CNN Central News and Network–ITDC India Express/ITDC News Bhopal: With millions of pilgrims expected to attend the Sangam Snan during Mahakumbh 2025, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw conducted an extensive review of railway preparations in Prayagraj. The minister inspected ongoing development work at key stations like Jhunsi, Phaphamau, and Prayagraj Junction and instructed officials to complete all projects on time.
At Jhunsi station, Vaishnaw inspected the new rail bridge over the Ganga River and the redevelopment of Phaphamau station. He emphasized ensuring passenger facilities, cleanliness, emergency services, and crowd management arrangements. During his visit to Prayagraj Junction, he reviewed color coding, catering services, drinking water facilities, and medical amenities at passenger shelters, praising the preparations.
Over 13,000 trains, including 3,000 special trains, will operate during Mahakumbh. To accommodate passengers, 43 permanent holding areas have been developed, and foot overbridges at stations are being readied to handle increased traffic.
Vaishnaw also inspected rapid action teams, fire-fighting units, and CCTV monitoring systems. He called for efforts toward a clean and plastic-free Kumbh. Speaking to the media, the minister revealed that ₹5,000 crore has been invested in the region’s development over the past two years.
These comprehensive preparations by Indian Railways aim to provide a seamless and pleasant experience for the pilgrims visiting Prayagraj during Mahakumbh 2025.
