Rain likely in MP until September 21, monsoon in final phase

CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Rain is likely in Madhya Pradesh until September 21, with the monsoon still active.

The monsoon in Madhya Pradesh is moving towards withdrawal, but the spell of rain has not ended completely. According to the Meteorological Department, rain, thunder and lightning, and strong winds may continue in several parts of the state from September 18 to 21. Rainfall is likely to decrease from September 22.

Madhya Pradesh has so far recorded about 842.1 mm, or 33.1 inches, of rain this monsoon season. This is about 7 percent below the normal rainfall of 905.3 mm. As many as 32 districts in the state have still recorded below-normal rainfall, making the coming few days important for these areas.

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for thunder, lightning and storm activity in western Madhya Pradesh until September 21. No special warning has been issued for eastern Madhya Pradesh at present. Bhopal is also likely to see rain with thunder and lightning from September 18 to 21.

According to weather experts, rainfall activity will begin to become limited after September 22. However, monsoon activity may continue in some parts until the last week of September.
