CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Delhi: Air travel from Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh, to major cities in the country is currently proving costly for passengers. The situation is such that one-way airfares from Raipur to Delhi and Pune are being reported as costlier than fares to international destinations such as Singapore and Bangkok.

According to available fare data, an air ticket from Raipur to Delhi has reached around Rs 24,832, while the one-way fare to Pune is reported to be more than Rs 23,995. Because of these high prices, passengers are having to spend heavily even on domestic air travel.

This difference in airfares has increased concern among passengers. It may particularly have a direct impact on people who travel regularly for jobs, business, education and family needs. Passengers say that such high fares on domestic routes could put air travel beyond the reach of ordinary people.

However, air ticket prices keep changing according to the date of travel, demand, available seats and time of booking. Therefore, fare differences on different days are possible. While comparing international and domestic flight fares, it is also necessary to consider travel duration, airline, route and other charges.

The increased fares from Raipur to major cities have raised questions over regional air connectivity and passengers’ travel expenses.
