CNN Central News and Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News / Agencies: In Chhattisgarh’s capital Raipur, more than 15 experiments were carried out over the past nine months to streamline the traffic system, but the expected results have not been achieved. Claims made about measures such as the left-free system, separate zones for e-rickshaws and automatic traffic signals have so far not fully materialised on the ground. The impact is visible in the form of daily traffic jams on the city’s roads.

Plans had been prepared to change arrangements at different locations to reduce traffic pressure. It had been said that the left-free system would make vehicle movement easier at intersections, designated zones would be prepared for e-rickshaws, and an automatic signal system would be implemented. However, these plans could not be implemented effectively.

Drivers are facing difficulties because of the continuing problem of traffic jams. Movement is affected as long queues of vehicles form on busy routes and at major intersections.

Despite the experiments carried out over nine months, the lack of expected improvement in the traffic system has raised questions about the effectiveness of the related plans and their implementation.
