CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Mumbai. Actor Rakul Preet Singh has responded to reports linking her name with a recent search operation by the Income Tax Department. In a statement issued on social media, she said the search in question was not against her.

Rakul also expressed displeasure over reports being presented in a sensational manner without verification of facts. She said she comes from an Army background and had no support or godfather in the film industry. She claimed she has built her identity through hard work and, as a responsible citizen, has been regularly paying her taxes since the age of 20.

The actor denied involvement in any kind of illegal foreign money transfer. She also clarified that there is no benami property in her name, either in India or abroad, belonging to any other person. Rakul also rejected claims of receiving expensive property or gifts.

Rakul appealed to media organisations that had linked her to the Income Tax Department action to withdraw their reports and clarify the facts. She said reports published without verification can affect a person’s reputation and livelihood.
