CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Bhopal: CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News / Agencies, Bhopal: The much-awaited film ‘Ramayana: Part 1’, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash, is moving towards setting new box-office records even before its release. The film is reported to have collected around ₹73 crore gross worldwide through advance bookings. Amid the surge in ticket sales, the Bombay High Court has granted interim protection to safeguard the film from piracy and copyright infringement.

According to Sacnilk data, the film had earned about ₹72.91 crore from advance bookings by the morning of November 3. This includes ticket sales in domestic and overseas markets. In India, around 18.56 lakh tickets had been sold and bookings were recorded for nearly 59,822 shows. After excluding blocked seats, the domestic advance collection was reported at about ₹57.97 crore. Demand is highest for the Hindi version, while ticket sales are also rising in South Indian languages.

Acting on a petition by the film’s makers, the Bombay High Court restrained unknown persons and digital platforms from recording, uploading, hosting, streaming or distributing the film without permission. The court directed internet service providers and social media platforms to block or remove pirated material when the makers submit complaints and relevant links.

The makers told the court that footage from the film’s trailer had also been secretly recorded and circulated online despite confidentiality conditions. Citing this apprehension, they sought copyright protection for the film’s script, characters, footage, songs and recordings. Granting interim protection, the court fixed the next hearing for December 16.

The film, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Mata Sita, Yash as Ravana, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. The first part of the film is scheduled to release in cinemas worldwide on November 5. The second part is planned for release on Diwali 2027.
