Krishna Mukherjee breathed her last on the afternoon of September 22. A statement issued by the family confirmed the death and appealed to people to respect the family’s privacy at this difficult time. The cause of her death has not been made public.
Several Bollywood personalities attended Krishna Mukherjee’s funeral. Actor Shah Rukh Khan reached the Pawan Hans crematorium in Mumbai with his wife Gauri Khan and paid his last respects. Several stars, including Karan Johar, Alia Bhatt, Anil Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar, Ayan Mukerji and Vaani Kapoor, also paid tribute. Krishna Mukherjee herself was associated with the film world and had worked as a playback singer. She is known for lending her voice to the song “Eid Ke Din Gale Mil Le Raja” from the 1982 film “Teesri Aankh.” She was married to filmmaker Ram Mukherjee, who was among the co-founders of Filmalaya Studios before his death in 2017.
Her mother also played an important role in Rani Mukerji’s career. Rani has shared anecdotes about her mother on several occasions. After Krishna Mukherjee’s death, the family thanked people for their prayers and condolences and appealed for private time in this hour of grief.
