CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Regional Rupak Festival is being organized by the Central Sanskrit University, Bhopal campus, and will run until January 10, 2025.
The festival will feature dramatic presentations in Sanskrit language based on events from everyday life. These will be performed by theatrical groups representing Sanskrit colleges and universities from states like Haryana, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, and others. Notable participants include Haryana Sanskrit Vidyapeeth Baghoula, Ekrasanand Adarsh Mahavidyalaya Mainpuri, Central Sanskrit University’s campuses in Lucknow, Nashik, and Bhopal, Jagadguru Ramanandacharya Sanskrit University Jaipur, Kalidas Sanskrit University Ramtek Nagpur, and Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Sanskrit University New Delhi, among others.
Special performances will include Dhrupad singing and presentations by the Natya Shastra Study Center. These performances aim to highlight India’s cultural unity through Sanskrit drama and artistry.
The Regional Rupak Festival will be inaugurated at the Bhavabhuti Auditorium by the world-renowned Sanskrit scholar Acharya Radhavallabh Tripathi and eminent Sanskrit scholar Acharya Sadashiv Kumar Dwivedi, Director of the Bharat Adhyayan Kendra, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. They will be joined by Neelabh Tiwari, Co-Director of the Bharat Adhyayan Kendra. The program will be presided over by Dr. Ramakant Pandey, Honorable Director of the Bhopal Campus.
This two-day festival will showcase the artistic excellence of Sanskrit dramatists across India, contributing to the cultural heritage of Madhya Pradesh. The festival will feature captivating Sanskrit plays performed by students, including Mantradanam, Manjula, Mahadanam, Dharitripatinirvachanam, Vikasatu Esha Kalika, Pratibha Parikshanam, Mahimaya Bharatam, Netru Leelayitam, Deepadanam, and Pallikamalam, among others.
The event’s convenor, Kripashankar Sharma, emphasized that Sanskrit is the soul of India, and the presentations will reflect India’s grandeur and cultural unity. He added that many of these plays are being staged for the first time, creating excitement among the performers. The event also provides opportunities for Sanskrit students to explore career avenues in dramatics.
