CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Bhopal: A five-day workshop, “Astronomy: The Study of the Sun and the Sunspots,” organised for students of Classes 8 to 12 under the Holiday Creative Science Workshop 2026 at the Regional Science Centre, Bhopal, concluded successfully.
The objective of the workshop was to familiarise students with the basic and advanced concepts of astronomy, solar studies and space science. During the workshop, participants studied various subjects related to the structure of the Sun, solar activity, sunspots, solar flares, space weather and astronomical observation.

Students actively took part in several interesting hands-on activities during the workshop. To understand the structure of the Sun from its outer surface to its core, participants prepared a Sun to Core model. In addition, they made a sundial to understand the scientific method of measuring time with the help of the Sun, and also prepared a Lagrange Point model to understand an important concept of celestial mechanics.

The major attraction of the workshop was the safe solar observation sessions, in which students directly observed the Sun with the help of special solar filters and advanced telescopes. During this, participants observed sunspots present on the Sun’s surface and understood their scientific significance. Students were also given important information related to astronomical observation techniques, the working principles of telescopes and space exploration.

On the concluding occasion of the workshop, participants shared their experiences and said the programme had further increased their curiosity and interest in astronomy and space research. At the end of the programme, certificates were distributed to all participants.
The workshop proved to be highly successful and useful in developing a scientific outlook, observation skills and interest in space science among students.
