CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Bhopal: In an important initiative to promote science communication and experiential learning, a new interactive exhibit, Trivim Drishti/Stereoscopic Vision, was inaugurated today at the Regional Science Centre, Bhopal.

The exhibit was formally inaugurated by National Council of Science Museums Governing Body members Dr Abhijit Chakravarty, Dr B. Venkataraman, Dr Shankar V. Nakhe and Dr Rama Jayasundar. The programme was held in the august presence of K. S. Murali, Director General, National Council of Science Museums. Amitabh Pandey, Director, Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya (IGRMS), Bhopal, and Umesh Kumar Rustagi, Director, Nehru Science Centre, Mumbai, and Regional Head, Western Region, National Council of Science Museums, were among the other dignitaries present.

The new exhibit is an innovative effort to explain science through a game-based activity. In the exhibit, visitors have to aim a ball at square shapes displayed on a screen. When a target is successfully hit, the screen displays the profile of an Indian scientist, details from the scientist’s biography, and information about major contributions in the field of science and technology.

In this way, visitors learn about different Indian scientists and their work through an entertaining and participatory activity. The exhibit presents the history of science, scientific achievements and India’s scientific contributions in a simple and engaging manner, helping develop interest in science, curiosity and a scientific temper, especially among students and young visitors.

The dignitaries present on the occasion observed the exhibit and appreciated its innovative concept. They said such interactive exhibits make science more interesting, accessible and experiential, while giving visitors an opportunity to understand scientific concepts through direct experience. They added that such efforts encourage innovation and scientific thinking among the younger generation by familiarising them with the contributions of Indian scientists.

The Regional Science Centre, Bhopal, is continuously developing such exhibits and programmes through which visitors can connect directly with the world of science. This new interactive exhibit is also an important effort in the same direction, presenting science, scientists and their contributions as an engaging, informative and participatory experience.
