CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Bhopal: The Regional Science Centre, Bhopal, organised a Wildlife Week celebration with the objective of promoting wildlife conservation, creating awareness about biodiversity and taking scientific information related to wildlife to the general public.
The purpose of Wildlife Week is to develop awareness and sensitivity among students and the public towards wildlife, their natural habitats, biodiversity and environmental conservation. Keeping this objective in view, the Regional Science Centre, Bhopal, organised various engaging, informative and participatory activities for students and visitors.
As part of the Wildlife Week celebration, an open house quiz was organised on the theme “National Parks of Madhya Pradesh”. Through the quiz, participants got an opportunity to learn about the national parks of Madhya Pradesh, key wildlife species found there, biodiversity and natural heritage, while also testing their knowledge. Students and general visitors participated in the quiz with enthusiasm.
During the celebration, a special science demonstration on “Bioacoustics and Sound” was also organised. Through this demonstration, participants were given scientific and interesting information about different types of sounds produced by wildlife, their importance in communication and the role of sound in understanding wildlife behaviour.
In addition, hands-on activities based on wildlife and different living organisms were organised for students and visitors. By taking part in experiments and activities themselves, participants got an opportunity to understand the structure, characteristics and scientific concepts related to the life of animals and other organisms.
A large number of students, teachers, families and general visitors enthusiastically participated in the activities organised during Wildlife Week. Through these activities, participants not only gained an understanding of the scientific aspects of wildlife and biodiversity but also became more aware of nature and wildlife conservation.
The Regional Science Centre, Bhopal, is continuously working through such activities to develop scientific temper, environmental awareness and sensitivity towards wildlife among students and the general public. The Centre will continue to organise such interactive and public awareness programmes related to science, environment and nature conservation in the future as well.
