CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress / ITDC News Bhopal: On the occasion of World Environment Day 2026, a series of programmes was organised under the joint aegis of Regional Science Centre Bhopal, a unit of the National Council of Science Museums, and the Madhya Pradesh Ecotourism Development Board.

As part of the programme, the special Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) exhibition organised by the Madhya Pradesh Ecotourism Development Board was inaugurated by chief guest Umesh Kumar Rustagi, Director, Nehru Science Centre, Mumbai.

The main attraction of the exhibition was a fossilised egg of the Rajasaurus dinosaur found in the Dhar region of Madhya Pradesh, which drew special attention from children and visitors. Shark tooth fossils were also displayed, indicating that the state was once under the sea.

On the occasion of World Environment Day, a mega painting competition titled “Our Forests, Our Friends” was also organised, in which a large number of students participated enthusiastically. Through their paintings, the participants effectively conveyed the importance of nature, wildlife, forests and the message of environmental conservation.

Along with this, a hands-on workshop titled “Science Inspired by Nature” was organised. Children, parents and families took part enthusiastically and enjoyed several interesting scientific activities and experiments. The participants understood the remarkable relationship between nature and science and celebrated World Environment Day as a festival together with Regional Science Centre, Bhopal.

In his address, chief guest Umesh Kumar Rustagi described children as the future of the nation and environmental protection, and said that the responsibility of building a clean, green and sustainable India lies in the hands of the coming generations. He encouraged students to remain aware about environmental conservation and adopt a sensitive approach towards nature.

During the tree plantation programme organised on the occasion, Umesh Kumar Rustagi planted saplings along with students and urged everyone to pledge to plant more trees and protect them. He said that every effort made towards environmental protection is an important step towards making the future secure and prosperous.

A large number of students, parents, teachers and visitors participated in the programme and observed World Environment Day with enthusiasm and awareness.
