CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: “Ananda Loke, Mangal Loke… Mor Veena Othey Kon Shure Baaje… Jodi Tor Dak Shune Keu Na Ase Tobe Ekla Chalo Re…”
When these soul-stirring Rabindra Sangeet melodies, vibrating with the fragrance and sweetness of Bengali lyrics, echoed together in multiple voices, the scorching heat of Baisakh seemed to melt into serenity. This harmonious confluence at the Pranati Parv, held at Rabindranath Tagore University’s Muktadhara Auditorium, became a moving tribute on the occasion of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore’s birth anniversary.
Organized by the Tagore Centre for World Art and Culture, the event was made memorable by the group Renivrind, whose performers rendered an enchanting presentation. The Rabindra Sangeet, carrying messages of love, nature, and devotion, resonated so deeply that the listeners too found themselves humming along. Directed by theatre artist Reena Sinha and musically coordinated by Morris Lazarus, the performance turned into a rare fusion of literature and melody.
Special guest and All India Radio Program Director Rajesh Bhatt remarked that Gurudev Tagore, who gifted India its national anthem, left behind a multifaceted creative legacy that speaks of humanity to the entire world. “Tagore was an ocean of talent,” he noted.
RNTU’s Pro-Chancellor Dr. Aditi Chaturvedi Vats gave insights into major documentary projects centered on Tagore’s works and also announced a national workshop focused on Rabindra Sangeet. Vice Chancellor Dr. R.P. Dubey highlighted the shared philosophies between Tagore’s educational experiments and India’s New Education Policy. Vinay Upadhyay, Director of Tagore Art Centre and senior art critic, elaborated on Tagore’s cultural heritage and the artistic dimensions of Rabindra Sangeet.
The cultural gathering began with a collective floral tribute to Gurudev. On this occasion, a colorful illustrated booklet titled “Geetanjali”, centered on Tagore’s songs and a dance-drama adaptation, was released. Published by AISECT Publications, the concept and content were developed by Vinay Upadhyay, cover design by Mudit Srivastava, and technical coordination by Ameen Uddin Sheikh.
Dr. Sangeeta Johri, the Registrar, was also present at the event. The Pranati Parv concluded with a collective rendition of India’s national anthem composed by Tagore.
