CNN Central News & Network – ITDC India E-Press / ITDC News Bhopal: In an effort to dispel myths surrounding menstruation and promote health awareness among adolescent girls, the CMHO Office Bhopal organized an awareness workshop on the occasion of World Menstrual Hygiene Day. Subject matter experts addressed vital topics such as menstrual hygiene, nutrition, and mental health during the event.

Principal Secretary of the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Mrs. Sonali Ponkshe Vayangankar, inspired girls to move forward with confidence and awareness. She emphasized that women’s empowerment is essential for strengthening society. Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Prabhakar Tiwari shared insights about the National Adolescent Health Programme, highlighting the importance of anemia screening, iron-folic acid supplementation, and safe use of sanitary pads.

Senior gynecologist Dr. Priya Bhave Chittawar advised taking symptoms like heavy bleeding and abnormal menstruation seriously, while dietitian Dr. Amita Singh explained that a diet rich in iron, protein, and vitamin C is essential for proper nutrition during menstruation.

Experts present at the event answered the girls’ questions from a scientific perspective and encouraged them to break free from menstrual myths. Adolescent girls from various parts of Bhopal participated enthusiastically in the workshop.
