CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: New Delhi. Repeated headaches are not always caused only by fatigue or stress; at times, they may also indicate a problem related to the eyes. According to experts, cataract, glaucoma and diabetes-related eye disease can gradually affect vision. Timely examination and treatment can help prevent serious damage.

According to expert Dr. Mahipal Singh Sachdev, in cataract the eye’s natural lens begins to turn cloudy. This can cause problems such as blurred vision, difficulty seeing at night and discomfort in bright light. Treatment is possible, and if detected in time, vision can be improved significantly.

Glaucoma, meanwhile, can progress for a long time without clear symptoms and can damage the eye’s optic nerve. A comprehensive eye examination is necessary to detect it at an early stage. Sudden severe eye pain, red eye, nausea and blurred vision may be signs of a serious condition, and immediate medical help should be sought in such cases.

If a person repeatedly has headaches, weakening eyesight, persistent eye pain or blurred vision, it is advisable to consult an eye specialist. Regular check-ups are especially important for people with diabetes, high blood pressure or a family history of glaucoma.

For eye care, experts have advised following the 20-20-20 rule. Under this, looking at an object about 20 feet away for 20 seconds every 20 minutes can help reduce screen-related eye strain. Adequate lighting, proper distance and sufficient sleep are also important.
