CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has levelled serious allegations against the Bharatiya Janata Party. He claimed that the BJP is allegedly working on a strategy to win elections in Telangana through the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Revanth Reddy alleged that after West Bengal, Bihar and Maharashtra, Telangana is now being targeted. However, these are political allegations made by the Chief Minister, and there has been no confirmation from the BJP of the alleged conspiracy.
Addressing Congress workers and local leaders in Kodangal, Revanth Reddy said the BJP is allegedly trying to remove the names of Congress-supporting voters through SIR. He described it as a “backdoor” method to gain power in Telangana. The Chief Minister alleged that attempts are being made to influence the electoral process in non-BJP-ruled states. He appealed to Congress workers to remain alert to any irregularities in the voter list and to strengthen monitoring at the booth level.
Telangana’s draft voter list was released on August 17. According to reports, 73.39 lakh names have been included in the Absent, Shifted, Dead or Duplicate (ASDD) category. In addition, about 92.88 lakh voters have been flagged for some form of discrepancy. The last date for filing claims and objections regarding the voter list is September 16, while the final voter list is scheduled to be published on October 19.
Revanth Reddy alleged that, in the name of SIR, voters supporting the Congress, particularly those from SC, ST and minority communities, could be targeted. He asked Congress workers to check the voter lists at their respective booths and file claims and objections if the names of eligible voters are removed.
The Chief Minister also accused the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of supporting the BJP. He said the BRS is also cooperating in the alleged attempt to weaken the Congress electorally. However, this too is Revanth Reddy’s allegation and has not been independently confirmed. Revanth Reddy asked Congress leaders to monitor voter lists at every village and booth level. He appealed to workers to ensure that no eligible voter’s name is wrongly excluded from the list.
