CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The 138th birth anniversary of the renowned scientist and Nobel laureate C.V. Raman was celebrated with enthusiasm by the Center for Science Communication and the Department of Science at Rabindranath Tagore University (RNTU). Special guests at the event included the University’s Pro Vice-Chancellor Sangeeta Johri, Dean of Academics Sanjeev Gupta, and Dean of the Faculty of Science Poorvi Bhardwaj. Under the guidance of Chancellor Santosh Choubey and Registrar Vijay Singh, RNTU celebrates C.V. Raman’s birth anniversary each year. The purpose of this celebration is to provide young students with proper guidance in science and to promote scientific knowledge.
During the event, the guests highlighted Dr. C.V. Raman’s contributions and his exceptional work in the field of science. They encouraged students to draw inspiration from Raman’s scientific perspective and his ideas.
Several activities were organized for students, including an essay writing competition on the topic “Our C.V. Raman,” a film screening, and a nighttime astronomy observation program. In the night observation event, students observed celestial bodies like the Moon and planets such as Venus and Saturn through telescopes. Students actively participated in these activities, and a film on Dr. C.V. Raman was also shown.
The event was hosted by Preeti Singh, who welcomed the guests and awarded certificates, cash prizes, and trophies to the winners of the essay competition. Attendees included Mohan Sagoria, Deputy Editor of AISECT’s magazine Electroniki Aapke Liye, Head of the Department of Physical Science Jyoti Rawat, Head of the Department of Life Science Ankit Agarwal, along with numerous faculty members from the Science and Engineering faculties, and a large number of students.
