CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Rabindranath Tagore University’s Law Department and National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit organized Constitution Awareness Week to commemorate Constitution Day. The event concluded with various competitions and a national seminar.
The seminar, titled “Philosophy of the Bhagavad Gita and Its Reflection on the Indian Constitution,” featured renowned academician Prof. Amitabh Saxena as the keynote speaker. Prof. Saxena addressed questions from the audience, emphasizing that the Bhagavad Gita, a representative scripture of Indian philosophy, teaches the principles of living a meaningful life. He stated that the Gita defines Dharma not as religious practices but as selfless duty and action, encapsulated in the phrase, “Karma is Worship.”
Similarly, the Indian Constitution inspires us to fulfill our duties. The fundamental duties listed in the Constitution not only teach respect for the country and its institutions but also emphasize coexistence with nature, including rivers, forests, and wildlife. Prof. Saxena noted that this essence of coexistence reflects not only the Gita but also the Upanishads, which are mirrored in the Indian Constitution.
Special Guest and Acting Vice-Chancellor Dr. Sangeeta Johri urged the youth to study both the Bhagavad Gita and the Indian Constitution to avoid being misled. Dean of the Law Department, Dr. Nilesh Sharma, also addressed the gathering.
The program began with a welcome speech by NSS Program Officer Gabbar Singh, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Head of the Department Naish Zameer. The event was skillfully hosted by NSS volunteer Vivek Bhaskar.
