CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Rabindranath Tagore University (RNTU) honored Vivek Sagar Prasad, vice-captain of the Indian hockey team and the university’s star player, with the AGU Sports Achievers Award for his outstanding performance in the 2025 Asia Cup, where he played a pivotal role in leading India to victory. The award ceremony was held at Scope Global Skills University. Vivek was presented with a cash prize of ₹1 lakh along with gifts on this occasion.
On this prestigious occasion, Vivek was felicitated by Siddharth Chaturvedi, Executive Vice President of ISECT Group and Chancellor of Scope Global Skills University, and Aditi Chaturvedi Vats, Director of ISECT Group of Universities (AGU) and Pro-Chancellor of RNTU. The event was also attended by SGSU’s Vice-Chancellor Vijay Singh, Registrar Sitesh Sinha, and District Sports Officer of Raisen, Jalaj Chaturvedi.
It is noteworthy that India won the Hockey Asia Cup 2025 for the fourth time this year, thereby qualifying for the World Cup 2026. In the final match, India defeated South Korea 4-1. Vivek Sagar Prasad delivered an outstanding performance throughout the tournament, playing a key role in the team’s success.
On this occasion, Dr. Siddharth Chaturvedi and Aditi Chaturvedi Vats expressed their delight over India’s fourth Asia Cup win and World Cup 2026 qualification, stating that Vivek’s achievement is a matter of pride not only for the university but also for the entire state and country. Talented athletes like Vivek inspire the youth to reach new heights in the field of sports.
At the end of the program, Vivek expressed his gratitude to the ISECT Group of Universities and credited his achievement to his parents, Rabindranath Tagore University, and the Sports and Youth Welfare Department of Madhya Pradesh.
