CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Rabindranath Tagore University (RNTU) is set to witness the glorious journey of two centuries of Hindi journalism. A three-day national seminar is being organised at the university to mark 200 years of Hindi journalism. The theme of the seminar is “Contemporary Hindi Journalism: Tradition, Change and Future”. The event will be held in collaboration with Vishwa Rang and Scope Global Skills University on July 9, 10 and 11, 2026. Several leading personalities from across the country associated with literature and Hindi journalism will participate. Eight sessions have been scheduled for the seminar. The seminar will serve as a broad national platform for dialogue, linking the journey of Hindi journalism so far with contemporary questions and future possibilities.

The programme will begin on July 9 at 7 pm at Ravindra Bhavan with the presentation “Songs of Freedom”. It has been conceptualised by Santosh Choubey, while the direction and presentation will be by Kshama Malviya. On July 10, the inaugural session will be held from 10 am to 12 noon at the university’s Sharda Auditorium. The programme will begin with a sitar recital by Aniruddha Joshi. This will be followed by addresses by Vijaydatt Shridhar, Om Thanvi and Vijay Manohar Tiwari on “Contemporary Hindi Journalism: Tradition, Change and Future”. The session will be chaired by Santosh Choubey, Chancellor of Rabindranath Tagore University.

On the same day, from 12.30 pm, separate sessions will be held on subjects including the role of literature in mainstream Hindi journalism, contemporary Hindi literary journalism and science journalism. Several senior journalists, writers and experts, including Om Thanvi, Sudhish Pachauri, Manoj Shrivastava, Priyadarshan, Kripashankar Choubey, Akhilesh, Mukesh Verma, Kshama Sharma, Geetashree, Pankaj Subeer, Devendra Mewari, Krishna Kumar Mishra, Manish Mohan Gore and Sameer Ganguly, will take part. During the programme, an exhibition of magazines published by the university will also be inaugurated. In addition, the history of Hindi journalism and new issues of various magazines will be released.

On the final day, July 11, sessions will be held on subjects related to journalism, culture, art and the global context. From 10.30 am to 12 noon, a session on “Culture and the Arts in the Mainstream of Journalism” will be held at Katha Auditorium, chaired by Prayag Shukla. Umesh Trivedi, Ajay Brahmatmaj, Arvind Ojha, Vinita Choubey and Sanjay Patel will share their views. The book “Lok ka Alok” (“Light of the Folk”) will also be released during this session.

From 12.30 pm to 2 pm, a special discussion titled “Rang Samvad: Culture and Creation” will be held. It will be chaired by Ashok Bhowmik. Ravindra Tripathi, Premshankar Shukla, Ajay Bokal and Shakeel Akhtar will participate as speakers.

After this, the delegation will leave for Scope Global Skills University, where a special exhibition based on Hindi journalism abroad will be inaugurated at 2.30 pm. Dr Siddharth Chaturvedi, Chancellor of Scope Global Skills University, will be present on the occasion. The objective of the three-day seminar is to take forward serious deliberations on the 200-year journey of Hindi journalism, its cultural heritage and diverse themes in journalism.
