CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Two-Day Workshop on “Protection and Management of Intellectual Property Rights for Startups” at Rabindranath Tagore University

A two-day workshop on the theme “Protection and Management of Intellectual Property Rights for Startups” was organized under the joint aegis of the Institute of Law and the IPR Cell at Rabindranath Tagore University, Bhopal.

The event featured special guest speakers including Ms. Aparna Pandharkar, Indian Patent Agent and Startup Promoter, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, and Dr. Ajay Kumar Chaubey, Founder and Director of E-Skill Bharat, Startup India Mentor, and Innovation Coordinator at IGNOU-NCIDE.

The aim of the workshop was to familiarize students with the fundamentals of IPR, the patenting process, and practical aspects of innovation, enabling them to protect their ideas and transform them into viable businesses.

On the first day, Ms. Aparna Pandharkar conducted an in-depth session on “Patent Drafting and Filing,” guiding participants through the process of preparing patents, rules for drafting, and technical aspects of filing. Using practical examples and case studies, she helped students deeply understand the patenting process to ensure legal protection for innovative ideas.

On the second day, Director Dr. Ajay Kumar Chaubey, in his session “Journey from Idea to Reality,” elaborated on how ideas can be transformed into commercial and innovation models. He highlighted the commercial utility of innovation, startup development, and intellectual property rights, explaining how a simple idea can be turned into a powerful enterprise through policy, investment, and innovation.

The workshop was coordinated by Director Madhavi Patkar (Institute Coordinator) and Director Prateek Nigam (IPR Cell Coordinator and Head – EEE Department). The event was conducted under the leadership of Nash Zamir, HOD, Institute of Law. Students from the faculties of Law, Engineering, Nursing, and Agriculture actively participated in the workshop.
