CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Bhopal: The National Peace, Unity and Leadership Camp organised at Rabindranath Tagore University, Bhopal, to develop a spirit of national unity, peace, social harmony and leadership among youth concluded with a tribute meeting on the fifth death anniversary of social worker S. N. Subbarao. The camp was organised by the National Youth Project and the National Senior Coordinators Forum, with RNTU serving as a partner institution.

Youth from 15 states took part in the camp and conveyed the message of service, harmony and national unity through intellectual sessions, collective activities and cultural presentations. As part of the camp, the “Bharat Ki Santan” programme was also held at Gandhi Bhavan in Bhopal. It presented India’s diversity and unity through various languages and cultural expressions included in the Indian Constitution.

Narmadapuram MP Darshan Singh Choudhary, who attended the Gandhi Bhavan programme as chief guest, said change is possible through resolve and dedication. He said that tasks that appear impossible can be made possible with firm determination and self-confidence. Youth should identify social problems and work with full commitment and dedication to resolve them, he said, adding that active participation of youth in nation-building is the need of the hour.

MP Choudhary described the life of social worker S. N. Subbarao as a source of inspiration for young people and said Indian culture is based on the spirit of welfare for all. Organisations such as the National Service Scheme, Scouts and Guides and Nehru Yuva programmes play an important role in developing discipline, service and leadership qualities among youth, he said. He urged young people to focus on character-building along with career-building, help take government schemes to the needy and return from the camp with a resolve to do meaningful work for society.

R. P. Dubey said education should not be limited, but should also prepare responsible, sensitive citizens with moral values. Education is incomplete without values, he said. It is necessary to connect youth with Indian culture, life values and moral ideals along with their studies. He said Indian culture develops respect for nature, the environment and the entire creation, and gives a message of sensitivity and coexistence towards every living being. India’s geographical and natural diversity is an important basis of its cultural richness. Youth should therefore understand their responsibilities towards environmental protection and nature, and adopt responsible behaviour towards society.

The “Bharat Ki Santan” programme, held at Gandhi Bhavan under the National Peace, Unity and Leadership Camp, showcased the country’s linguistic and cultural diversity through various languages included in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution. The programme conveyed that despite different languages, traditions and cultural expressions, Indians share a common identity and national spirit.

The cultural evening of the camp featured engaging presentations of folk traditions and dance forms from various states. Participants from Assam performed Bihu, while participants from Chhattisgarh presented the Panthi dance. The Uttar Pradesh team brought the love of Radha and Krishna to the stage through dance. These performances introduced participants to the country’s diverse cultural traditions and effectively presented the message of “unity in diversity”. The camp concluded with a tribute meeting in which S. N. Subbarao’s life, ideas and contribution to social service were remembered. The programme included floral tributes, state-wise presentations, cultural activities and distribution of certificates.

The camp routine also included collective awakening, yoga and physical exercise, flag salutation, the national anthem, shramdaan, campus cleaning and tree plantation. Through discussions on youth policy, intellectual sessions and collective participation, participants were encouraged to become sensitive to social issues and to adopt the values of service and leadership in their conduct.

RNTU Chancellor Aditi Chaturvedi Vats, chief guest MP Darshan Singh Choudhary, IPS Anuradha Shankar, Department of Law head Naish Zameer, National Service Scheme programme officers Rekha Gupta and Gabbar Singh, camp coordinator Pankaj Kumar Jhala, deputy coordinators Danish Khan, Danish Ashraf, Makshi Dhakoliya, Rakhi Kulaste and Avani Raghuvanshi, along with other dignitaries and campers, were present.

The camp concluded with the message that the real meaning of education lies in combining knowledge with values, resolve with service and personal progress with social responsibility. Participants were urged to imbibe the ideas of S. N. Subbarao and adopt the values of peace, harmony and national unity in their daily lives.
