CNN Central News & Network – ITDC India E-Press / ITDC News Bhopal: Fifteen enthusiastic NCC cadets from Rabindranath Tagore University (RNTU), accompanied by NCC officer Sub Lieutenant Manoj Singh Manral and instructor Durga Verma, participated in an engaging heritage walk covering various historical and developmental sites of Bhopal. Organized under the theme “Development as well as Heritage,” the initiative aimed to foster a deep appreciation for both the city’s rich history and its rapid progress.

The day-long educational tour began with visits to important heritage sites, where the cadets learned in detail about Bhopal’s past. The first stop was Jagdishpur Fort, a site of great historical significance. Here, the cadets explored the fort’s ruins, understood its strategic importance, and heard stories related to its construction and inhabitants. The group then proceeded to the magnificent Gohar Mahal, a beautiful example of a blend of Mughal and Hindu architectural styles. The cadets admired its intricate design and learned about the royal patronage it received. The historical context of the palace was explained, which sparked further discussions and questions among the young participants. The heritage walk continued to Shaukat Mahal, known for its unique mix of European and Islamic architecture. The cadets were particularly fascinated by its distinctive features and the stories behind its design. At each heritage site, a small quiz competition was held, challenging the cadets to retain and present the historical information.

After exploring Bhopal’s historical treasures, the cadets shifted their focus to the city’s modern progress. The group visited VIP Road and the iconic Raja Bhoj Bridge to observe the urban infrastructure and connectivity transforming Bhopal. The cadets discussed the planning and development behind these modern marvels and understood their role in the city’s growth. The final stop of the itinerary was the state-of-the-art Rani Kamalapati (RKMP) Railway Station. Here, the cadets witnessed firsthand the advancements in public transportation and infrastructure, observing the station’s modern facilities and efficient operations. It provided a concrete example of how Bhopal is evolving into a smart and progressive city.

Throughout the day, the theme “Development as well as Heritage” resonated strongly. The cadets not only learned about the historical significance of heritage sites but also seriously observed how Bhopal is balancing its invaluable past with development in a harmonious way.

Sub Lieutenant Manoj Singh Manral highlighted the importance of such initiatives, stating, “This heritage walk was designed to give our cadets a holistic understanding of Bhopal. Recognizing and celebrating the progress of our city is important for them. The theme ‘Development as well as Heritage’ encourages a balanced approach, which is vital for future generations.” The heritage walk by RNTU NCC successfully achieved its goal of educating cadets about Bhopal’s historical heritage and contemporary development, fostering a sense of pride and responsibility toward both.
