CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: As part of the ongoing ‘Martyr’s Week’ remembrance, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) is paying tribute to 14 of its personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty over the past year. As a symbol of respect and remembrance, RPF officers are visiting the alma maters and native villages of these brave individuals across nine states. These heartfelt tributes are strengthening the deep bond between the RPF and the communities that shaped these courageous souls, while also emphasizing the importance of their sacrifices.
Among the honored martyrs is RPF Head Constable Nirakar Behera of East Coast Railway, who made the ultimate sacrifice while performing his duties in February 2024. A memorial service was held by RPF personnel from Khurda Road Division at his alma mater, ME School in Nettanga, Ganjam district, Odisha. The event saw an emotional gathering of his family, friends, and colleagues. His widow, Geetanjali Behera, expressed deep gratitude for the recognition of her husband’s sacrifice.
Director General of the Railway Protection Force, Manoj Yadav, said, “Each of these brave souls exemplified the highest ideals of service and sacrifice. Their legacy will continue to inspire us to maintain the safety of our railways and passengers.”
Throughout India, the RPF is conducting similar remembrance programs in the ancestral villages and schools of the martyrs, honoring each family with heartfelt tributes and good wishes, ensuring that the sacrifices made by their loved ones will never be forgotten.
With a week full of planned activities, the RPF’s efforts to honor its fallen heroes reflect its deep and ongoing commitment to recognizing the bravery, sacrifice, and dedication of RPF personnel who gave their lives to protect the nation’s railway system and passengers.
