CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A significant awareness workshop on human trafficking prevention was organized at the Railway Narmada Club Auditorium, Bhopal, under the joint aegis of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the National Commission for Women (NCW). The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Vijaya Kishore Rahatkar, Chairperson of the National Commission for Women.

The workshop was attended by several senior officials, including Rajiv Kumar Yadav, Inspector General-cum-Chief Security Commissioner, West Central Railway, Jabalpur, Divisional Railway Manager Bhopal, Pankaj Tyagi, Deputy Divisional Railway Managers, Senior Divisional Security Commissioner Bhopal, and other senior representatives from railway and security agencies.

The main objective of the workshop was to raise awareness about serious crimes such as human trafficking occurring in railway premises and trains, and to provide railway staff with necessary information to identify such cases early and take effective action.

Experts shared detailed insights on various aspects of the issue. Naushin Afrin Ali, Senior Advocate at the Chhattisgarh High Court, highlighted the legal provisions related to human trafficking, rights of victims, and the role of law enforcement agencies. Meanwhile, Pallabi Ghosh from Impact and Dialogue Foundation, Bengaluru, emphasized the social causes of human trafficking, its consequences, and the need for combined efforts from society and administration.

The workshop noted that human trafficking is an organized crime, often targeting women, children, and economically vulnerable groups. Railway stations and trains can serve as major conduits for traffickers, making vigilance among railway staff critical.

Participants, including RPF, GRP, local police, TTEs, C&W staff, porters, and operating and commercial department employees, were trained to identify suspicious activities, monitor situations, and immediately report to relevant authorities. Officials stressed that prevention of human trafficking requires better coordination, sensitivity, and vigilance across departments, and that responsible action by each employee can save many people from falling victim to this crime.

The workshop was a significant initiative to raise awareness and strengthen coordination against human trafficking.
