CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress / ITDC News Bhopal:  Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) are set to clash in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Eliminator in Ahmedabad today, but some activities on the eve of the match have attracted a lot of attention.

On Tuesday, the Narendra Modi Stadium hosted Qualifier 1 between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Hence, RCB and RR could only use the stadium to train after their match. The teams were instead given the option to practice at the University Ground in Ahmedabad.

RR vs RCB Eliminator, IPL Match Today: Preview, Weather Forecast, Head-to-Head Stats

While RR trained between 4 and 6 p.m. at the University Ground, RCB’s decision to cancel their session without any explanation has left many intrigued. Sources close to developments informed CricketNext that it had nothing to do with the terror threats, as RCB’s training was canceled before the arrests were made.

“We were not told about any terror threat by the RCB. They canceled the training before the suspects were arrested. We made arrangements for both RR and RCB at the University Grounds, and RR even trained in the evening hours. So many spectators attended the match last evening in Ahmedabad, and there is no reason to panic,” says a Gujarat Cricket Association official.

As far as media activity on the eve of the match was concerned, nothing was scheduled because the venue was hosting Qualifier 1 of the IPL. Even before KKR vs SRH, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) informed that there would not be any practice or pre-match press conference because both teams were traveling. No information was shared regarding RR vs RCB, and there was no pre-match presser scheduled.

“Had there been a press conference, it would have been announced as if it were done for all games. There was nothing scheduled at the venue because a match was going on,” says a BCCI official.

The RCB vs. RR game will happen as per schedule. Both teams are determined to secure a spot in the final, adding to the intensity of the competition. While RCB have had a dream run—winning six games on the trot—RR have struggled this month and are yet to register a victory. The winner of Eliminator will take on SRH in Qualifier 2 in Chennai, and the winner of that game will battle it out with KKR in Sunday’s final.
