There is relief for people travelling between Ghaziabad and Greater Noida West. A six-lane underpass built at Gaur Chowk in Greater Noida West at a cost of about Rs 92 crore has been opened for trial. It will be tested for three days. After this, a decision will be taken on making it fully operational following a review of traffic arrangements and technical aspects.
The start of this underpass is expected to bring relief from congestion at Gaur Chowk. Until now, motorists passing through this intersection had to face long waits during peak hours. Through the underpass, vehicles will be able to move ahead without stopping at the intersection, which may make travel between Ghaziabad, Noida and Greater Noida West easier.
The project has been built with the aim of reducing the increasing traffic pressure in the area. During the trial, vehicle movement, safety arrangements and traffic operation will be monitored. If any technical or operational shortcomings come to light, they will be addressed.
Local residents and people who travel on this route daily are expecting significant relief from the underpass. Once it becomes fully operational, traffic pressure around Gaur Chowk is likely to reduce.
