CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: ‘RUMA Summit 2026’ was held at the auditorium of LNCT University. At the national conference, organised on the theme “Practical Rheumatology for Everyday Clinical Practice”, eminent rheumatologists, doctors and academicians from across the country shared their experiences on important issues related to modern rheumatology.
The inaugural session of the summit was chaired by Dr Anupam Chouksey, Secretary, LNCT Group; Dharmendra Gupta; Dr Nalni Mishra, Dean, LN Medical College; Dr D. P. Singh, Professor and Head, Department of Medicine, LNMC; and Dr Apurva Khare, President, IRA MP Chapter. Several senior doctors and academicians from across the state were also present on the occasion.
In the scientific programme, experts from different parts of the country discussed practical and modern medical approaches. The key speakers included Dr Seema Balan (Lakshya, Kochi), Dr Yogesh Preet Singh (Lakshya, Bilaspur), Dr Avinash Jain (SMS, Jaipur) and Dr R. Subramanian (JSS Medical College and Hospital, Mysuru).
The programme began with clinical grand rounds, in which important aspects related to diagnosis and treatment were discussed through real patient cases. Various masterclasses dealt in detail with common clinical mistakes in rheumatology, overlooked manifestations of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), early identification of rheumatic diseases in children, and important red flags in systemic vasculitis.
In the session “Myths and Truths Related to Rheumatology”, common clinical misconceptions such as the use of steroids, hyperuricemia, ANA positivity, the utility of ESR, and the meaning of a positive arthritis factor were discussed.
In the afternoon session, “The Big Debate – Are Conventional Therapies Still the Best? versus Should We Start Using Biologics Early?” provided an opportunity to deliberate on modern treatment strategies. This was followed by a cross-speciality clinical conclave, in which specialists from pulmonology, nephrology, cardiology, gastroenterology and neurology discussed the multidisciplinary management of complex autoimmune diseases.
The summit concluded with a vote of thanks.
