CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: With the aim of strengthening maternal and child health services and sharing international experiences, a delegation from Rwanda, Africa, along with members of UNFPA, visited the Government Kailashnath Katju Hospital, Bhopal.
The delegation included Dr. Francois Regis Saïza, Maternal and Child Health Facility Program Unit; Esperance Ndenga, Partnership and Grant Writing Analyst, Ministry of Health, Rwanda; Marie Claire Irianyawera, Head of SRHR, UNFPA Rwanda, along with their full team; and from UNFPA Madhya Pradesh, Mr. Sunil Thomas, State Head, and Mr. Anurag Sonwalkar, State Programme Officer.

Dr. Rachana Dubey, Nodal Officer of Government Kailashnath Katju Hospital, provided the team with a detailed overview of the hospital’s various units, including the Preventive Gynaecology Centre “Shakti”, ANC/PNC ward, Human Milk Bank, Labour Room, and other modern facilities related to maternal and child healthcare. She also shared information about the standards, protocols, and service procedures implemented in the hospital.
Dr. Balram Upadhyay, Superintendent of the hospital, was also present during the visit.

The Rwanda delegation appreciated the advanced facilities, hygiene management, dedicated staff, and patient-centric services available at the hospital. They especially praised the Human Milk Bank initiative, calling it an innovative and inspiring step towards improving maternal and newborn health. They considered it an ideal model to implement in Rwanda.

On this occasion, Dr. Dubey stated that continuous efforts are being made to strengthen maternal and child health services at the Government Kailashnath Katju Hospital. Initiatives such as the “Shakti – Preventive Gynaecology Centre” are not only focused on disease prevention but also serve as an important step toward empowering women’s health.
The Rwanda delegation commended the dedication, innovation, and organizational capacity of the hospital administration and staff. They stated that Rwanda will benefit from India’s experience and model, helping them strengthen their own healthcare system.
