World No. 1 Sabalenka defeated American Jessica Pegula in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2, in the semi-final. With the victory, she has reached the US Open final for the fourth consecutive time.
Sabalenka will now be eyeing a third consecutive US Open title. She was the champion in New York in 2024 and 2025. If she wins the trophy again this time, she will become only the third woman player in the Open Era to win three consecutive US Open titles. Chris Evert and Serena Williams have previously achieved the feat.
Sabalenka will face Elena Rybakina in the final. Rybakina entered the US Open final for the first time after defeating Coco Gauff 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the other semi-final. Rybakina is also set to become the new world No. 1 after this tournament.
The match between Sabalenka and Rybakina will be played on Saturday. The two have already played several thrilling matches this season, making the final an eagerly contested affair.
