CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal/ Sagar : There is widespread outrage across the state over the tragic death of more than 20 innocent children in Chhindwara after allegedly consuming cough syrup. In this context, a protest demonstration filled with anger was organized in Sagar under the joint aegis of the District Congress Committee (Urban and Rural).
The candle march began from the Congress office at Gaur Murti and proceeded to Katra Jay Stambh, with hundreds of party workers and leaders participating. Acting on the directives of Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari, the demonstrators raised strong slogans against the “murderous government” and the “insensitive health minister.” Participants lit candles and prayed for the peace of the departed children’s souls.

District Congress Committee (Urban) President Mahesh Jatav stated that this incident was not mere government negligence but a “murder under state protection.” He demanded the dismissal of Health Minister Rajendra Shukla and criminal proceedings against him.
Meanwhile, District Rural President Bhupendra Singh Muhasa demanded compensation of ₹1 crore for each bereaved family and said that the state’s health system is “on a ventilator.”
State Congress spokesperson Sandeep Sablok described the tragedy as one of a “government stained with the blood of innocents.”
At the end of the event, the workers observed a two-minute silence and resolved that the Congress party’s struggle would continue until justice is served and the minister resigns.
