CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Bollywood’s ‘Dabangg’ actor Salman Khan is once again embroiled in controversy, and this time, the matter is extremely serious. Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s threat to Salman Khan has caused a stir throughout Bollywood. The reason behind this goes back to the 1998 blackbuck poaching case, in which Salman’s name was prominently involved.

The Bishnoi community regards the blackbuck as a deity, and they never forgive anyone who hunts this sacred animal. Because of this, Lawrence Bishnoi has targeted Salman Khan.

Now, speaking of the black market value of the blackbuck, illegal poaching and trafficking of this animal is a significant issue. The head and antlers of a blackbuck can fetch anywhere from 1 to 1.5 million INR, while the entire animal can be priced between 1.5 to 2 million INR. Its meat is also in high demand on the black market, sold for thousands of rupees per kilogram.

The trafficking and illegal poaching of blackbucks present a major challenge for forest authorities and law enforcement. Strict laws and actions are needed for its conservation to protect this invaluable species and promote wildlife preservation.
