CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The controversy involving Bollywood superstar Salman Khan and gangster Lawrence Bishnoi has once again raised security concerns in the film industry. The series of threats that began in Jodhpur in 2018 has now extended to threatening messages, firing outside the actor’s home and alleged targeting of people close to him. The matter is back in the headlines after the recent firing on actor Tiger Shroff’s car. According to media reports, during the investigation into that attack, the possibility of Salman Khan being a potential target also emerged.
The first open threat came in 2018. The main reason cited for the dispute between Salman Khan and the Lawrence Bishnoi gang is the 1998 blackbuck hunting case. The Bishnoi community considers the blackbuck sacred. In January 2018, during a court appearance in Jodhpur, Lawrence Bishnoi threatened to kill Salman Khan. After this, reports continued to surface at different times about the actor receiving threats.
From a threatening letter to firing outside his home: In June 2022, Salman Khan’s father, Salim Khan, found a threatening letter during his morning walk. In March 2023, there were reports that the actor’s office had received a threatening email. His security was increased after this. In April 2024, motorcycle-borne attackers opened fire outside his Mumbai residence, Galaxy Apartments. Police investigated the role of accused persons linked to the Bishnoi gang in the case.
People close to him were also targeted. In October 2024, concern over the gang’s threats increased further after the murder of Salman Khan’s close associate and former MLA Baba Siddique. After this, reports emerged that other people connected with the film world had also received threats. In 2025, incidents of firing at comedian Kapil Sharma’s cafe in Canada also made headlines. In these cases, different investigating agencies continued to examine the accused and possible links.
Concern rose again after the attack on Tiger Shroff. On October 18, 2026, firing took place on Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai’s Juhu area. According to reports, the actor remained safe, while two people, including his driver, were injured. After the incident, a message surfaced claiming links with the Bishnoi gang. Media reports on October 21, citing police sources, said the attackers had earlier conducted reconnaissance of Salman Khan’s home, but allegedly changed their target after seeing tight security there. This claim can be confirmed only on the basis of the official findings of the investigation.
Questions are being raised over security and the investigation. The continuing threats and attacks have raised questions about security arrangements for film personalities. However, before linking every incident to the same gang, it is important to consider the police investigation and official evidence. The matter concerning Salman Khan’s security is no longer limited to one actor, but is also connected to the safety of people working in the entertainment industry.
