CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Mumbai. The threats being received by Bollywood actor Salman Khan and alleged attacks on people linked to film personalities have once again raised concerns over security. Repeated firing at comedian Kapil Sharma’s cafe in Canada, firing outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s home and now the incident in which actor Tiger Shroff’s vehicle was targeted are under discussion. In these incidents, people linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang have claimed responsibility through social media posts or messages. However, such claims can be confirmed only on the basis of evidence gathered by investigating agencies.
The matter began with threats to Salman Khan. The background to the dispute between Salman Khan and the Lawrence Bishnoi gang is said to be linked to the 1998 blackbuck poaching case. The Bishnoi community considers the blackbuck religiously and culturally significant. Reports of threats to Salman Khan had also surfaced in 2018. On April 14, 2024, motorcycle-borne attackers opened fire outside Salman Khan’s Galaxy Apartment in Bandra, Mumbai. Police arrested several accused in the case. During the investigation, allegations emerged about the role of people linked to the gang.
Attacks on Kapil Sharma’s Canada cafe. From July 2025 to October 2025, several incidents of firing were reported at Kapil Sharma’s “Caps Cafe” in Surrey, Canada. People claiming on social media to be linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang took responsibility for these attacks. In an alleged audio message, a gang member claimed the cafe was targeted because Salman Khan was invited to Kapil Sharma’s show. This was a claim made by the gang; it cannot be treated as an independently verified reason for the attacks.
Firing outside Rohit Shetty’s home. In February 2026, firing took place outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence in Mumbai’s Juhu area. People linked to the Bishnoi gang also claimed responsibility for this incident. Police investigated the case and examined the role of the accused.
Firing at Tiger Shroff’s vehicle. On October 18, 2026, reports emerged of firing in Mumbai’s Juhu area when actor Tiger Shroff was returning after playing football. According to initial reports, Tiger Shroff remained safe, while his driver and an auto-rickshaw driver were reported injured. The Mumbai Police Crime Branch began investigating the case. After the incident, people claiming to be linked to the Bishnoi gang took responsibility on social media and also threatened those working with Salman Khan. Police and security agencies are examining the authenticity of these messages and their connection with the attack.
Questions over film industry security. The continuing incidents have raised questions about the security of artistes, their associates and businesspersons linked to the entertainment industry. However, any connection between incidents that occurred in different countries, the actual motive behind the attacks and the role of alleged gang members can be determined only on the basis of investigation and evidence presented in court.
