CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal/ Uttar Pradesh : A controversy erupted in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda district after the use of a textbook in a private school affiliated with the Samajwadi Party (SP) stirred political tensions. The book titled “Samajwadi Paathshala” used phrases like “A for Akhilesh, D for Dimple”, referencing SP leaders Akhilesh Yadav and Dimple Yadav in what was meant to be an educational exercise. These materials were allegedly circulated as part of an SP-backed initiative to promote the party’s ideology through early education. However, local BJP leaders raised objections, accusing the school of political indoctrination of young children. As a result, an FIR was lodged against the school’s management and those involved in distributing the materials.
Authorities are investigating the intent behind including political references in early learning materials, citing possible violations of education department regulations. Meanwhile, SP leaders have defended the initiative, calling it an attempt to introduce “value-based political awareness.” The incident has triggered a heated debate around the politicization of education and how schools should handle content relating to political parties. The case is currently under review, and more action may follow based on findings.
This incident underscores the sensitive relationship between politics and education in India, particularly when children are involved.
