CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Sanitary Pad Vending Machine Installed at Bhopal Station: Promoting Women’s Health and Hygiene
The Women’s Welfare Organization of Bhopal Division has inaugurated two sanitary pad vending machines at Bhopal Railway Station, one located in the women’s waiting room on Platform No. 1 and the other in the general waiting room on Platform No. 6. With a capacity of 25 pads, these machines aim to enhance safety, health, and hygiene for women travelers by providing easy access to sanitary pads during emergencies. Women can obtain pads by inserting a ₹5 coin into the machine.
Gunjan Tripathi, President of the Women’s Welfare Organization, highlighted the initiative as a crucial step toward preserving women travelers’ dignity, convenience, and safety. She stated that this facility will promote cleanliness and self-reliance, ensuring a more comfortable and secure journey for women.
The launch event was attended by Additional Divisional Railway Manager Rashmi Diwakar, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Saurabh Kataria, and Meeta Wadhwa, co-founder of the NGO “Setu,” along with other members of the Women’s Welfare Organization.
Saurabh Kataria emphasized that these vending machines will allow women travelers to easily access sanitary pads, making their journeys more comfortable and safer. He added that this initiative prioritizes women’s health and hygiene.
Meeta Wadhwa expressed gratitude to the Women’s Welfare Organization for this step, calling it a milestone in promoting women’s health security. She assured that Setu NGO would maintain the machines and ensure the continuous availability of sanitary pads.
This initiative is a significant relief for women travelers during emergencies, reducing hesitation and enabling them to maintain hygiene and convenience. The effort by Bhopal Railway Division marks a vital contribution toward making travel safer, cleaner, and more empowering for women.
