CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Actor Sanjay Mishra has received his first National Film Award for his performance in the film “Bhakshak.” At the 72nd National Film Awards ceremony, President Droupadi Murmu honoured him with the Silver Lotus for Best Supporting Actor. This is the first such honour in his film career spanning more than three decades.
Sanjay Mishra’s reaction after receiving the National Award also drew attention. He described the honour as an extremely special achievement for an actor and said it is difficult for any artiste to experience a greater sense of recognition than a National Award. He also expressed gratitude to the entire team of “Bhakshak.” The moment was emotional for Mishra also because his late father had worked with the Press Information Bureau. He had said that the news of the National Award coming through the PIB reminded him of his father. He described the connection as a deeply emotional moment.
Over the years, Sanjay Mishra has built his identity through films and memorable roles in “Office Office,” “Ankhon Dekhi,” “Masaan” and “Vadh.” His role as Bhaskar Sinha in “Bhakshak” received national recognition, and it was this performance that brought him his first National Award. Amid the big honour, his mother’s simple question, “Have you eaten?” reflected the same simplicity of relationships that becomes most special for a family after any major achievement.
