CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Indian wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson made a strong comeback in the second T20 International against Afghanistan and earned a place in Rohit Sharma’s special club.
In the match played at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, Sanju struck a blistering 57 off just 22 balls. His innings included seven fours and four sixes. During the knock, Sanju Samson completed 1,000 runs for India as an opener in T20 Internationals. He became the fifth Indian opener to achieve the milestone. Before him, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan and Abhishek Sharma had crossed the mark.
Sanju has scored more than 1,000 opening runs at a strike rate of 181.59, which is said to be the highest among the Indian batters in this club. His quick innings against Afghanistan gave India a brilliant start in the chase. India won the match by seven wickets to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Sanju’s innings is also being seen as significant in terms of his return to form.
